A strongly emerging sport is kite surfing or kiteboarding in Vietnam, where the practitioner skim over the water with a kite on a surfboard and pulls out all sorts of acrobats. One of the best locations in Southeast Asia to practice this sport is on the beach of Mui Ne near Phan Thiet. There are several kiteboarding schools, with courses for beginners and advanced. The high season runs from November to April, but also outside this season there are good opportunities for kite surfing.
Also in Nha Trang in the high season (in winter and summer) there is a lot of kitesurfing. Be careful, because the water around Nha trang can be full of motorised transport and not every jet skier understands his craft. There are courses for the fun, but especially young Asians from Singapore, as well as young people from the West, feel safe enough and can make life difficult for swimmers.
