Trekking in Sapa and Bac Ha Market 3 days / 4 nights
Enjoying amazing mountain scenery and ethnic minority villages located in pristine nature are the highlights of Sapa. Get off the beaten track and trek through local villages of the ethnic minority, seeing their homes and learning about their daily activities.
Your tour guide will pick you up at 8:00 pm at your hotel lobby in Hanoi. A driver will bring you up for a to Hanoi Station, where you will take the overnight train to Lao Cai City.
Take some time to fresh yourself up and have breakfast. After this you have free time to walk around Sapa Town; pay a visit to the market and the old cathedral, where you can see many local ethnic minorities with their traditional colorful dresses, selling farming products, handicrafts and souvenirs.
At 10.30 am you will go to the office, where you adventure trekking into the Muong Hoa Valley starts. Follow the main road going south for about one hour, before a turn right to a foot path downhill to Muong Hoa Valley.
This part offers scenic views of the highest part of Hoang Lien Son mountain range and on clear days even the peak of Fansipan Mountain.
Cross the river by a suspension bridge and walk uphill to Y Linh Ho village. Here you visit H’mong families and see them doing their daily activities.
Enjoy a picnic lunch, before you continue for another 2 hours up and down hills to Lao Chai, which is a large village of the H’mong.
Walk along the river to Ta Van village of the Zay minority. Visit a local school, houses and enjoy discovering the culture of the local ethnic people and amazing scenery of the Muong Hoa Valley.
Stay overnight at a homestay in Ta Van Village.
After breakfast you leave Ta Van village, going uphill, passing rice paddy fields and small houses, before getting into the bamboo forest to a waterfall. Enjoy a break with beautiful scenery.
Continue walking for half an hour to Giang Ta Chai village of the Red Zao. This village is situated on top of a hill, with views of the Muong Hoa river beneath.
After a visit to the village and meeting the Red Zao you will cross a river by suspension bridge and walk uphill to Hau Thao village. Visit a local handicraft center where Zao and H’mong women gather for sharing their experience and skills of making handicrafts.
Around this center you will have a late lunch and some time to relax, before a driver will bring you back to Sapa. Check in to your 3* hotel and spend the evening free to relax or a visit to the Saturday market.
Wake up early for breakfast and check out of the hotel at 07.00 am, for a 3-hour drive to Bac Ha via Lao Cai. The drive is long and hard, but you can enjoy some of the breathtaking landscapes along the road, including a couple of stops for great photo opportunities.
At around 10:00 am you will arrival at Bac Ha Market, which is the most crowded time.
You will see lot ethnic people in colorful traditional dresses, especially of the Flower H’mong. Walk around Bac Ha Market, take lots of photos and enjoy the sight.
Have a lunch break in a restaurant, before going for 2 hour walk to Ban Pho village of the Flower H’mong and Tay, on hills looking on the beautiful valley.
The drive back to Lao Cai station takes about two hours, arriving late in the afternoon. Take a shower and dinner on your own before taking the overnight train back to Hanoi, where you will arrive early the next morning and your trip ends.
