Next to the One-Pillar Pagoda stands the Ho Chi Minh-museum. This museum is in memory of Ho Chi Minh. The museum was built with help from Russia and opened in May 1990, on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the deceased leader.

There is a permanent exhibition in the museum. According to the Vietnamese tourist brochure, the museum shows ‘the close relationship between life and ideals of the president and his country and time, and sheds light on his important role in Vietnam’s history and the process of world revolution’. In order to understand these relationships, much imagination is needed, because the symbolism is far from clear.
